Kas yaitu digunakan untuk menampung transaksi-transaksi penerimaan dan pengeluaran kas melalui kasir perusahaan, termasuk penerimaan dan pengeluaran secara tunai melalui bank. Kas kecil yaitu merupakan sejumlah dana (uang) yang dibentuk atau dipersiapkan khusus untuk kepentingan tertentu termasuk pengeluaran-pengeluaran yang bersifat rutin dan relatif kecil. Selisih kas, yaitu digunakan untuk menampung perbedaan jumlah fisik kas (yang ada dalam perusahaan) menurut hasil kas opname dengan jumlah kas menurut catatan pembukuan sementara sebelum penyebab terjadinya perbedaan itu dapat diketahui.
Pada dasarnya setiap penanaman investasi mengandung dua macam aliran kas. Bambang Riyanto (2004 : 98) aliran kas terdiri dari :
Aliran kas keluar netto ( net out flow cash ) yaitu yang diperlukan untuk investasi baru. Aliran kas masuk netto tahunan (net anual inflow of cash), yaitu sebagai hasil dari investasi baru yang ini sering pula disebut net cash proceceeds atau cukup dengan istilah proceeds.
Berdasarkan pengertian di atas menunjukkan bahwa yang dianggap sebagai aliran kas keluar adalah sejumlah dana yang dikeluarkan untuk keperluan investasi, sedangkan aliran kas masuk secara netto tahunan adalah hasil dari investasi yang ditanamkan.
Ada perbedaan pengertian antara cash flow atau proceeds dengan laba yang dilaporkan dari laporan keuangan. Laporan keuangan akan menujukkan data tentang laba yang belum tentu menunjukkan kas perusahaan, karena ada pos yang dianggap pengeluaran menurut laporam rugi laba sementara itu konsep cash flow menganggap bukan pengeluaran. Pos yang dianggap pengeluaran menurut laporan rugi laba adalah depresiasi. Oleh karena itu pada konsep cash flow dapatlah dihitung proceeds atau cash flow dengan menggunakan rumus (Subajah E. 2000 : 32), yaitu :

Kalau kita menganggap bahwa proyek tersebut dibelanjai dengan modal sendiri seluruhnya.
Kas masuk bersih = laba setelah pajak + penyusutan + bunga ( 1 – Tax ) : kalau proyek tersebut dibelanjai sebagian dengan modal pinjaman.
PINJAMAN ANTAR PERUSAHAAN.
Pada dasarnya hubungan antara perusahaan satu dengan anak perusahaannya adalah saling menutupi kekurangan dan saling mendukung. Perpindahan dana dari perusahaan satu dengan anak perusahaannya biasanya melibatkan MNC, karena disini MNC lah yang mengerti mengenai peraturan perpindahan dana tersebut. Hal – hal yang menyangkut perpindahan dana ini antara lain :

Hal penting lainnya adalah pinjaman yang saling berhubungan, saling bertukar nilai mata uang, dan pinjaman antar perusahaan.

Keuntungan dari system ini adalah :
Biaya yang harus dikeluarkan lebih sedikit, karena dana yang digunakan adalah dana dari perusahaan yang berada pada satu induk perusahaan Pinjaman ini lebih aman bagi perusahaan, karena tidak terpengaruh dengan nilai tukar dan pajak.
Keuntungan lainnya menurut manajer perusahaan adalah nama perusahaan akan tetap terjaga, karena kekurangan dari anak perusahaan dapat ditutupi sehingga citra perusahaan akan tetap baik di mata pemerintah dan masyarakat.
Berdasarkan keterangan kurs mata uang pada pemfakturan transaksi antar perusahaan dapat berpengaruh terhadap keuntungan setelah pajak jika fluktuasi/ naik turunnya mata uang dapat diantisipasi. Seperti contohnya pada sebuah cabang perusahaan Swedia yang menjual bagian perakitan barang pada cabang di Jerman. Yang mengasumsikan tingkat pajak perusahaan yang efektif di Swedia adalah tS, sedangkan di Jerman adalah tG.
